Last time, on the story of Elijah, Elijah demonstrated the power of God to the Baal worshipers by invoking the God to set fire to his altar.

Despite the priests of Baal's continued displays of dedication, they were unable to display proof of Baal, while Elijah's altar was immediagely set ablaze, even though it was completely drenched!

Elijah ordered the priests of Baal to be slaughtered. All seemed well. But public perception to Elijah's actions was agressive, and hostile!

Overwhelmed by the continued persecution, and the threat of death, he fled to the wilderness, abandoning his mission out of fear. He encountered God not in the fire, or the wind, but in a gentle whisper.
